County rivalry raises £300 for the NSPCC
02 June 2009
The Cornwall and Devon-based branches of PTS are celebrating after a final amount of £310 has been tallied for the NSPCC - thanks to an inter-county golf challenge titled the PTS Cyder Cup.
On Thursday 23rd April, two teams of 16 players, made up of staff and customers, represented the five branches within each county. After a successful day of putting, the Cornwall team was triumphant after taking a 14-10 lead over Devon. During the evening celebrations, a prize raffle raised the grant total of £310 for PTS' partner charity which helps vulnerable children and young people at risk of cruelty in the UK.
Neil Ryan, Branch Manager at PTS St Austell and part of the Cornwall team, said: "This is the second PTS Cyder Cup we've held and just like the first, this year was a great success. After Devon won last year, it was only fitting that Cornwall received the winning trophy in 2009. It's testament to our customers and we can all come together to spend a fun day on the fairway whilst raising money for a very worthy charity."
PTS named the NSPCC as its partner charity at the start of 2008.
