PTS trains for its biggest charity challenge
27 April 2009
Staff from the Aldridge and Tamworth branches of plumbing merchant PTS (Plumbing Trade Supplies) are set to face their biggest challenge yet as they prepare to climb Mount Snowdon. The team are calling on everyone in the local area to help them build on the fantastic £2,400 they have already generated in support of the NSPCC.
The team of seven will be aiming for the summit on the 19th July, tackling 'Pyg track', the dangerous 'Crib Goch' to finally reach the peak of Snowdon after 14 treacherous miles. Although the same team completed a trek from PTS Tamworth branch to PTS Aldridge in 2008 to raise an impressive £3,300, this year's hike will be a much bigger challenge for all involved.
Mark Wallis, Branch Manager at PTS Aldridge, said: "The 24 mile walk we completed last year in aid of the NSPCC was a huge success and we managed to raise a fantastic amount for a very worthy cause. Customers and the general public were a great support, not only donating their hard earned cash but cheering us on throughout the hike. Although this year we won't have the crowds pushing us on, we are hoping to raise even more to give us a much needed boost when we are tackling the slopes of Snowdon.
"We aim to raise £4,500 this year and have been selling PTS travel mugs in our branches to help reach over £2,000 already. As most of our team are based in Lichfield, we are also organising NSPCC evenings with entertainment including karaoke and Elvis impersonators, with our first night booked for the 27th June. Through all of our efforts and the generosity of customers, we will continue to support a very worthy cause which helps vulnerable children and young people at risk of cruelty in the UK."
Donations can still be made online through www.justgiving.com/ptssnowdon or by visiting either branch (PTS Tamworth, Unit 2 Castle Trading Centre, La Grange, Lichfield Road Industrial Estate, Tamworth, B79 7XD or PTS Aldridge, Unit 104, Empire Business Park, Brickyard Road, Aldridge, WS9 8SX).
