3,000 Cardiff Tea Drinkers Help to Raise £900 For Children's Charity
21 October 2008
Staff and customers of Plumbing Trade Supplies (PTS) on Beignon Close have raised over £900 for the NSPCC. The impressive sum was the result of numerous fundraising activities and the donations of over 3000 customers who used the branch’s tea and coffee machine.
Over six months, thirsty plumbers of Cardiff visited PTS not just for all of their plumbing and heating supplies but to take a break and make a donation to charity.
Mal Bowsher, Branch Manager of PTS Cardiff, said: “We run a friendly trade counter and many of our customers like to take a break and enjoy a cup of tea with us. This seemed the perfect way to raise some money for the NSPCC and our customers were really keen to get involved. As a simple and popular idea, we hope to keep it running alongside the other fundraising events we hold throughout the year.”
Additional funds were also raised when staff and customers teamed up for an Anglo/Welsh golf day at Dewstow Golf Club on 24th September, raising money for the worthy cause through an evening raffle. The very generous donation of a round of golf at the Belfry Golf Course from Quinn radiators also helped to bump up the total, when it was bid on by Bute Property Services.
PTS named the NSPCC as its partner charity at the start of 2008. By continuing its money raising campaign, PTS aims to help vulnerable children and young people at risk of cruelty in the UK.
PTS Cardiff is located at Unit B Magellan Court, Beignon Close, Oceanway, Cardiff CF24 5PB. For further information call PTS Cardiff on 029 2044 5440.
