PTS Scores High for Charity
30 June 2008
PTS branch staff, management and suppliers have raised a staggering £2,300 for charity after gathering on Sunday 11th May for an annual 5-a-side football challenge.
Through generous sponsorship and with the help of a good dose of sunshine (compared to the driving rain of 2007), the 47 teams managed to raise a record breaking amount for Age Concern. The final victors were ‘The Northern Elite’ and ‘The Cobden Crusaders’ – both PTS branch teams who now have a trophy and plate to put on show at the Bishop Auckland and Leicester trade counters.
Alan Ball, PTS Managing Director, said: “It was great to see so many PTS staff and suppliers coming together to take part in this year’s match, with twice the number of teams entering compared to last year. The weather was definitely on our side and helped to get everyone in the fundraising spirit – making it possible to reach our record figure alongside many generous donations. The PTS Directors even took on a team of Leicester ‘legends’ who obviously hadn’t lost their touch, beating us 6-5. The day was a real success and plans are already in place to make it even bigger and better next year.”
The annual 5-a-side challenge will return in 2009 with all proceeds going to PTS’ new partner charity, the NSPCC.
