PTS, the leading plumbing and heating merchant, has announced that the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CFT) will become its nominated charity following a successful two years with NSPCC and a whopping £40,000 banked for the cause.

It was a member of staff, whose family had been affected by Cystic Fibrosis, who put forward the CFT as a suggestion for PTS' next partnered charity. Nationwide, branches will be raising money and awareness of Cystic Fibrosis by taking part in a variety of challenges and events throughout the year. Collection tins and leaflets are already in PTS' 300 plus branches to explain the vital work of the CFT, and to encourage customers to donate as much as possible.

Kelvin Stevens, PTS Managing Director, said: "Our staff have achieved wonderful results for the NSPCC over the last couple of years and we really hope our funds can make a difference. We are now working to support the CFT as we were shocked by the seriousness and yet relatively unknown nature of this illness. Not many people know the reality that this debilitating condition can have on young lives so we want to lend our support wherever we can."

Dawn Osko Steer, Regional Fundraising Manager (East Midlands) for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said: "We are delighted to be working with PTS and thank them for giving us the opportunity to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and our work at the Trust. With CF Fundraising Week taking place 17-23 May we're really looking forward to supporting PTS employees as they kick start their fundraising to help us improve the lives of people with CF."

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common, life-threatening, inherited diseases which affects over 8,500 people in the country.
