PTS stock controller walks 18 miles for charity close to her heart

26 July 2010

Clare Evans of PTS back row, second from right and the team prepare to trek the 18 miles for CFT.

On Saturday 12th June, PTS Regional Stock Controller Clare Evans endured miles of rocky hills, insect bites and aching legs to reach the finish line of the Hadrian’s Wall challenge to raise £800 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CFT).

Clare tackled the 18 mile challenge with 25 others to support CFT, which is PTS' nominated charity of the year and a charity she has strong personal ties with. Clare raised money for the challenge with the help of her friends, family and PTS colleagues.

Clare said: "The Hadrian's Wall challenge was a struggle at times but we all pulled together to reach our goal. We managed to raise a fantastic amount of money for CFT, which is close to my heart as my youngest daughter was diagnosed with the disease last year after only hours of being born. I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported me and gave me a reason to keep pushing on."

Kelvin Stevens, PTS Managing Director, said: "We are all very proud of Clare and what she has achieved both personally and for CFT, which is an incredibly worthy cause. We really hope our funds can make a difference. Not many people know the implications Cystic Fibrosis can have on young lives so we want to lend our support wherever we can."

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common, life-threatening, inherited diseases which affects over 8,500 people in the country. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity dedicated to supporting the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis and also funding the research into finding a cure.
